In the 16th Week of Psychology, Pragma organized the workshop "With music through life: how music strengthens us, accompanies us and guides us through challenges and obstacles", which was held on February 22, 2023 at 6:30 pm for three school hours. Music, as an integral part of every person's life, contributes much more to our psychosocial state than we are aware of, although we regularly use it to improve mood, motivation and social interaction.

We discussed the importance of music education, potential obstacles and challenges in formal and informal music education, and awareness of the positive outcomes of music education on all aspects of human functioning, especially mental health. With numerous feedbacks, we concluded one thing - we all need MUSIC, and lectures like this need to be organized more often.

The presenters, Ph.D., shared their experiences and knowledge in the field of music education, musicology, pedagogy and psychology. Davor Brđanović, Terezija Štimec, graduate musicologist and music pedagogue and Marija Granić, mag. psychology. The lecture was attended by 140 participants, and we share with you some of the feedback we received after the workshop:

  • As an educational worker who works in a music school, it was extremely useful to me. Thank you!
  • An interesting scientific approach, numerous new information and ideas for integrating music into various activities and games with children.
  • I teach at a music school and experiences like this confirm what I stand for, which is that children need music in their lives, every day.
  • I would kindly ask for more education on the topic of music and its importance for individual development.
  • Maybe another presentation that would be before the next Psychology Week.
  • I learned some scientific facts, as well as practical examples that will help me to include music in my work and encourage children's interest and love for music.
  • Very skilfully connected theory and practice. The lecturers presented the topic clearly, pleasantly and instructively. As a teacher in the music program, I try to promote the values of music. Thank you.
  • It covers all ages and is well supported by examples and experiences.
  • I am not musically educated, and it brought me very close to the content, value, importance of music and inspired me to design activities at school with children and colleagues.
